Accessibility as a Human Right: Conversations on Policy, Practice, and Progress

Date: Wednesday, December 10, 2025

Time: 2:00 – 3:00pm ET

Format: Fireside Chat (Zoom Webinar)

Join Dr. Mahadeo Sukhai (IDEA-STEM) and Max Brault (ForHumanity Canada) for a powerful discussion on accessibility as a fundamental human right. Through the lens of the Accessible Canada Act and Max’s book The Race to the Starting Line, they’ll explore what progress has been made, what barriers remain, and what it will take to build a barrier-free future.

ASL interpretation, captioning, and accessible materials will be provided and we invite further information on how we can best support to make this an inclusive experience.

We are thrilled to share how accessibility, when embedded into systems and culture, benefits everyone, and what our journey has looked like thus far.

We invite you to connect with us as you reflect on your journey and this year’s themes of “fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress” for IDPD and “Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials” for IHRD in the pockets that exist all around us to advance accessibility and disability inclusion work!
